Visitors to Thorpe Cottage have enjoyed The Crackpots Mosaic Trail – a walk across Dallowgill Moor featuring 22 mosaics, exploring around Leighton and Roundhill reservoir, as well as chancing upon the Druids Temple – a stone folly tucked away in Swinton woods.

The cottage is also well situated to visit a host of visitor attractions as well as touring local villages and market towns such as Bedale, Leyburn, Richmond, Northallerton and Ripon. Further afield but within an hour’s drive is the spa town of Harrogate with its antique shops and elegant boutiques and the historic city of York with the Minster, Yorvik Viking Centre and National Railway Museum.

Middleham Castle – where the Middleham jewel was found – a 15th century pendant complete with sapphire which is displayed at the Yorkshire Museum in York

Dales Vintage Bus – travel in style on a sixties bus through the dales countryside – journey times tie in with the Wensleydale Railway.
