Directions for Thorpe Cottage, Masham

If travelling up the A1 (heading North) – turn off at the junction signposted Thirsk/Masham (B6267).

The junction is immediately after the Quernhow Cafe (truckstop). The junction has little warning and is two-way. Vehicles are also trying to get onto the A1 as well as get off.

Once off the A1 turn left at the junction and follow signs for Masham. (Masham is approximately 8 miles away at this point.) You will pass through the village of Nosterfield

If travelling down the A1 (heading South) – turn off at the Leeming Bar junction (A684)

Turn left towards Bedale – drive through Aiskew and up into Bedale. Turn left at the junction with the main street and then immediately right (like driving straight across with a bit of a bend to the left) onto the B6268 heading for Masham. (approximately 6 miles away)

Turn right at the B6267 signposted for Masham.

At the bottom of the long steep hill where you can see Masham church spire in the distance turn right at this T junction onto the A6108 following signs for Masham.

Follow the road round and cross over the bridge and drive along The Avenue. (tree lined road with picnic area to your left)

Turn left up a short steep bank onto Silver Street. Follow the road round (ignoring turnings for the Market Place). Silver Street becomes Church Street, Church Street becomes Park Street and then Thorpe Road.

You will pass a variety of shops, HSBC bank on your right and also the Co-op on your right). Keep going until you to get to the turning for Swinton/Swinton Park and Ilton. (Swinton Terrace leading to Swinton Road)

Thorpe Cottage in the first cottage on the right immediately after this junction. Parking is in front of the cottage.
